Making new work in a new season--thank goodness for that sunshine.

Little Projects

Added on by Taylor Greenfield.

I've moved the studio in anticipation of a summer at home with a little one. It's incredible to be able to step in there whenever I'm able--what a gift. First works in the new space are small, but I've got plenty of room for some larger ideas and messes. Happy summer!

Little Spaces

Added on by Taylor Greenfield.

Organizing is something I have a knack for... but it's always best to have motivation. We're expecting in July and I feel like I've touched every object I own in the last few weeks, deciding whether it's something worth keeping or if it would be better passed on.

We don't have a lot of stuff to begin with--for the past several years I've moved just often enough to stay nice and trim in terms of possessions. Which, I'm hoping, will be the key to all 3 of us successfully thriving in our 450 square foot apartment.

I've got lots of plans for our little spaces--including moving my studio home so I can more easily make work while having a little one. I'm excited for change, and even more excited that eating finally sounds like a good idea again!

Sneak Peek!

Added on by Taylor Greenfield.

I will be participating in the UICA's annual Holiday Artist's Market again this year, December 4th and 5th. So pumped to be sharing a booth once more with the lovely and talented Jenn Schaub! Here's a look at the jewelry I'll have available. Stay tuned for a look at the prints I'll have as well!

Studio Sale Prep

Hanging all of this work up makes me loathe to part with it, but alas. I can't keep everything I make, or I would drown in paper.

Working on some little paintings to keep the winter gray away. It's working... that and a steady stream of Mexican food and a daily dose of vitamin D.

studio sale!

Added on by Taylor Greenfield.

I'm loving these cold winter days, and I'm super pumped to announce our upcoming studio sale! What better way to make room for all the new work I'm making than to find homes for the old? Join myself, my studio mate Lucy Engelman, and local artist Jenn Schaub on February 7th from noon until 6:00PM in Studio 313 (located in the 401 Hall building in downtown Grand Rapids, MI). In addition to some lovely older works, I'll be making some pieces specifically for the sale.

Hope to see you there!

grateful

So honored--last month, two of my pieces from the Ancient Lake series were purchased by the Robert B. Annis Water Resources Institute, part of Grand Valley State University!  I'm excited to see "Brook" and "Whitefish" framed and installed, and I'm pumped that the ideas behind the work are reflected by the mission of their new home.

Both works and "Sunfish" (above) also have prints now available in the Print Shop. Happy Holidays, all!

writing and drawing

What an incredible weekend! I had such a great time at UICA's Holiday Artists' Market, and very fortunate to know so many talented folks. A huge thank you to everyone who came to our booth!

Speaking of things I love, I wanted to share an article I wrote for The Rapidian: How I fell in love with a place. Writing about things I am passionate about makes me feel like this:

Also, if you missed the market, no worries. There are plenty of prints left in the shop. Have a great week!

consignment kitchen

I am so pumped to be a part of Craft House's new Consignment Kitchen! What an honor to be featured amongst so many amazing local artists. These two pieces are currently for sale in the gallery--I created them last year for Art.Downtown., and have been working in a similar vein ever since. I look forward to this awesome partnership with such a sweet gallery.

And don't forget! Jenn Schaub and I will be at UICA's Holiday Artists' Market this coming weekend, December 6th and 7th. I'll be selling some brand new prints of recent work, including Gold Home I and II, which are based off of the pieces above.

Stay warm!

One of my favorites demos from the semester--I can't believe it's almost over! Back to the grading cave.

Happy December!

holidays

Added on by Taylor Greenfield.

Somehow, the holidays are just around the corner--which means my house smells like pumpkin spice, I can't get enough cinnamon, and I find myself humming the Carol of the Bells without warning.

The holidays also means busy getting ready for holiday markets. This year, Jenn Schaub and I will be bringing tons of cheer and some awesome handmade goodness to the UICA's Holiday Artists' Market. Please come visit us December 6th and 7th (please note, the market has moved to the Steelcase Town Hall this year).  Jenn has been crocheting up a storm, while I've been busy on some Michigan winter themed necklaces.

Also, a secret: I'm pretty excited about snow.
